The Conjuring is an American supernatural horror film directed by Michael Chaves and James Wan. The film follows the family’s move into an old house that later turns out to be haunted by demonic spirits. It received positive reviews from critics who praised its acting performances, pacing, and use of special effects but criticized its lack of explanation for some events.

THE BABADOOK
The Babadook is a 2014 Australian psychological horror film written and directed by Jennifer Kent. It tells the story of a single mother who faces supernatural forces when her son becomes obsessed with a children’s book called Amelia’s Ghost.
The film stars Essie Davis as single mother Karen, whose youngest child Samuel (Noah Wiseman) becomes terrified by an imaginary monster named “Babadook” after he accidentally kills his classmate Amelia (Bailee Madison). After Samuel sees the creature in one of Amelia’s books, it begins appearing around their home. Samuel grows increasingly withdrawn, while Karen struggles to protect him from what they believe is an actual ghostly presence haunting them in their home.

IT FOLLOWS
It Follows is a 2014 horror film directed by David Robert Mitchell and based on the novel of the same name by Robert King. The plot follows Jay, who has sex with someone she meets at a party and soon after discovers she is stalked by an evil spirit that manifests and attacking her. The movie has a slow start, but it’s worth watching once you get used to its unique style

HUSH
Hush is an American horror film directed by Mike Flanagan and released in April 2016. It stars Kate Siegel as Maddie Young, a deaf author who lives in the woods with her father. The film tells the story of a masked killer who has been stalking her for years and wants to silence her before she can complete her next manuscript.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, but it did well at the box office, earning over $40 million worldwide on a production budget of $5 million.

Cam
Cam is a 2018 American psychological horror film directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who co-wrote the screenplay with Isa Mazzei. The film stars Madeline Brewer and Ashley Hinshaw.
The narrative centres on Brewer, a cam lady who starts receiving messages from someone in her chat room but later realizes they are coming from a ghost-like entity known as “La Llorona”.

RAW
Raw is a French horror film directed by Julia Ducournau, starring Garance Marillier as the main character, Justine. The film follows Justine as she attends veterinary school and becomes a cannibalistic serial killer.
It premiered at Cannes Film Festival on May 18th, 2016, and was released theatrically in France on July 14th, 2016.
